The meeting began with a long postponed discussion of whether financial reports should be e-mailed. Since Lynda was not here for the previous discussion of this topic and did not get a chance to explain her concerns, she explained them today. Misunderstandings can be spread when things are widely sent through e-mail. There have been concerns that the Meeting could get in trouble if, for example, electronically distributed minutes appeared to imply that we were working for political causes as a 501C-3 organization. However, paper copies do not work as well as electronic for many of us and all our other records are electronic. We agreed that these concerns are things we can deal with by making our reports as clear and accurate as they can be. We agreed to send the treasurer’s reports via e-mail but not to post them on the web for the time being. Debbie offered to check with the Yearly Meeting treasurer, webmaster and clerk about concerns and standards for posting financial records on the web.
