Book Review: A Hidden Wholeness; the
journey toward an undivided life,
by Parker Palmer
The divided life, according to
Palmer, is the one we learn. Our
inner life stays inside, and our
outer one goes out into the world.
There is often a rigid wall
between the two. Here he gives
us specific suggestions for
creating a small community in
which we can express our inner
life honestly, with no one
offering advice or trying to “fix
it.”
This is an extraordinary
resource, and I think it would be
most effective with a group in
which there was potential for
dissension or which had
members who had rarely had a
chance to express themselves
freely in a non-threatening space.
