Elijah Gowin Photography Exhibit

Elijah Gowin and his art work are featured at the Ellen Curlee Gallery in St. Louis. An opening reception was held on Friday, Aug. 4. The show will be up until Sept. 23. The exhibit, titled Hymnal of Dreams, consists of a selection of photographs Elijah produced. “Hymnal of Dreams” is a “large series of silver gelatin print photographs exploring magic, mysticism, and southern imagery.”

Elijah Gowin wins prize

Elijah Gowin was in the Arts section of the Kansas City Star on February 19. He won a Charlotte Street Foundation prize of $9,000 for his photographic work.

Reva’s poetry book available

Dennis Maulsby’s book of poetry wins award

Dennis Maulsby, a former member of Penn Valley and a veteran of the Vietnam War, has received the 2005 Silver Medal Award for poetry from the Military Writers Society of America for his book Remembering Willie, and all the Others.

The book was favorably reviewed in the literary journal Types & Shadows, a publication of the Fellowship of Quakers in the Arts. Reviewer Chuck Fager wrote: Maulsby “… has transmuted some of this weight of memory into some stunningly vivid and tender poems... His vision of Vietnam at war is close up, unpretentious and clear-eyed.”
