Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business
second
month, third day, 2002
Clerk Jim Kenney, Recording
Clerk Karin McAdams, 15 members and attenders
present.
(Many reports were abbreviated or missing due to the ice
storm's effect on our "unsimple" lives.)
TREASURER'S REPORT, Ginger: $630 income for January; $2722 available in checking account; $627, VOPS account interest.
PEACE AND SOCIAL CONCERNS, David: Dan
Karmanski agreed to be the secretary, and Marilee expressed interest in Westport Cooperative Services. The
committee discussed preparing information on both the
history of conscientious objectors and A "how to" guide
for young Friends. Work continues on a minute addressing our country's military campaign against terrorists. The committee will proceed with our blessing on the Peace
Pole.
REMINDER: Attending the committee meeting and / or
communicating with committee members prior to the
meeting is the surest way of assuring that one's views/
suggestions are heard. Business Meeting is not the place
for committee work.
NOMINATING, Marc; Minta Kenney and Rick Yarnell
have joined Ministry & Oversight; Marc Robinson has
returned to that committee.
OTHER: A thoughtful discussion was held on the best
way to help our next door neighbor who is without power
due to one of our falling branches. Jim and Pat were sent
to talk to him.
FROM THE LIBRARY: The new books Kevin brought today have been logged, and are stamped "Noncirculating".
To set them apart from the other books, they are on the
top shelf of the small white bookshelf on the back wall of
the library, underneath the phone, at the left end of the shelf.
For the moment, until we know what the demand will be,
please read them in the library. Many of them are very
brief, and can be read in minutes. Others (the bound books)
cannot.
I'd like to see how heavy the demand is, and then discuss
what needs to be done. It may be feasible to let people
check them out for a week, for instance. We'll just have to
see. To this end, please use the regular library checkout
sheet, but instead of writing dates you checked the book
or pamphlet out, just write "on-site" in the right-hand two
columns. This will be a record of how heavy the demand
is for various items, and then we can discuss as a group
what the library policy should be.
