MEETING FOR WORSHIP WITH ATTENTION TO BUSINESS, Third month, fourth day, 2007

The meeting began with silence and a reflective thought.

The Ministry and Counsel committee report was heard and accepted.

The treasurer’s report was heard. Penn Valley Meeting is grateful for the treasurer’s effort. The report was accepted.

The house upkeep committee report was heard. Spring cleanup day will be 4/29. The committee will organize the work. There will be a potluck lunch after the cleanup. The report was accepted.

The publication committee report was heard. The committee is working on interesting changes, which will be reported in the near future. The reports was accepted.

The library committee reported the arrival of books ordered from FGC. The report was accepted.

The social committee report was heard. Penn Valley Meeting discussed the idea of walks/hikes. We are in favor of the idea, alternating active hikes with walks anyone can do. Interested members will work with the committee.

Next we discussed the idea of potlucks. Members agreed that combining potlucks with walks will be convenient and synergistic. Friends are encouraged to be aware of each others’ diets; labeling food ingredients is considerate. The report was accepted.

Penn Valley Meeting discussed support for a moratorium one the death penalty in Missouri. The clerk read the moratorium resolution and Penn Valley Meeting approved it. The clerk with sign it and mail it to the appropriate parties.

Friends discussed a member’s concern about immigration and the sanctuary movement, especially our participation in a program with other churches. Penn Valley Meeting will discuss our participation in People of Faith for Hospitality and Justice as the last program this month.

Friends discussed support for a Kansas City, Kan., family in its court struggle. Penn Valley will contribute $100 from the VOPS fund.

Members are encouraged to give individually through the sufferings fund as well.
