Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business
Fifth Month, Seventh Day
Vera Elleson, Clerk and Ginger Kenney, Recording Clerk...18 members and attenders were present.
Ministry & Oversight Committee: two suggestions for possible programs—Barb and her trip to Taiwan and Margery Larrabee
on Friends General Conference. Received with pleasure a request from Luci Lee to transfer her membership from Columbia.
Labored and brought forth a minute to share with meeting. . .Friends have brought to the Ministry & Oversight Committee
their concerns about behaviors, inconsistent with Quaker practice and spirit, that have taken place at the retreat, at recent
business meetings and at Meetings for Worship. The committee is seeking a Quakerly resolution. We ask the Meeting to hold
us in the light.Treasurer's Report, Kent Luetke-StahIman: Into the Operational Fund, donations of $545; into the
Building Fund, $43: to help recover Retreat costs, a donation of $75. The sale of Clarcor stock at $19 gave the meeting the
funds to pay bills and increaserthe Iowa Yearly Meeting contribution to $2,600 (we still owe $200). The operational budget has
received $2.999 in the first 4 months of 2000. At this rate, we will receive only $9,000 for our 12,286 budget. House Upkeep
Committee, Brenda Funk, reporting. The meeting gave the go ahead to accept a bid to replace the kitchen flooring.
Members expressed excitement and appreciation for the skilled and diligent work of this committee. Program Committee,
Lee Morehouse, reporting. See the program calendar for upcoming events. Peace & Social Concerns, David Rommel,
reporting. With regard to the Westport Cooperative, there are many volunteer opportunities available—ask David or Amy for details.
He will have Green Party petitions for signing by any interested individuals next first day. For the next meeting, see calendar.
Other business. . .Regarding expenses for the Westport Cooperative Services banquet. . .David & Amy wanted to consider this a
donation rather than being reimbursed. . .so. . .for future reference, the policy suggests that PVM pay for those representing them
at other functions and if those individuals so choose, they may return that to the meeting as a donation. Friends were reminded
that next month we will again discuss and decide upon the format for future Meetings for Worship with Attention to Business.
