Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business
Eighth Month, Thirteenth Day

Vera Elleson, Clerk and Ginger Kenney, Recording Clerk. . .22 members and attenders were present.

Ministry & Oversight report, Nancy Blair Moon. . .the committee discussed the need for clerking workshops in IYM and the wisdom of thinking ahead about our choice of clerks so that the person could participate in training. A summary of the clearness committee on living a non-violent life will appear in the September Friendly Connection. The committee continues to ponder the child care question. Committee members discussed the need for committees to pay close attention to concerns that are brought to them, as this is the main way to bring issues to the notice of the Meeting. M&0 members will be especially attentive to concerns raised during query discussions. Financial Report, Kent Luetke-StahIman. . .Into the Operational Fund, $885; Checking account balance, $525. The $50 from Local Outreach plus $175 from individuals at the last business meeting provided school supplies and clothes for five children in Kansas City, MO. House Upkeep, Brenda Funk. . .Friends heard the report and after heartfelt discussion about a difficult topic we charged the committee to follow through with a requested course of action to deal with neighborhood code violations, including the presence of rats. Program Committee, Lee Morehouse...see schedule. The program for the 27 on current conditions in Iraq is waiting on a return phone call to be finalized. First Day School Committee, Donnie Morehouse. . .Plans for the upcoming sessions include a continuing look at other religious practice, beginning with Hinduism and working on the group's cohesion with outside activities and student/adult-led discussions. A teacher is needed for younger children (4-8 year olds).

Other Business - Persons who wish to request reimbursement from IYM for budgeted funds should see Vera for guidelines and for the reimbursement form to submit. We approved the contribution of $100 to the Interfaith Peace Alliance and directed the Finance Committee to return this item to the budget. At the request of Karin McAdams, we approved the use of the meetinghouse for practice sessions of the old KC Women's Chorus in September and October.
