MEETING FOR WORSHIP WITH ATTENTION TO BUSINESS, Eighth month, sixth day, 2006
Ministry and Oversight
Committee Report –
Minute:
Friends heard the report of
the Ministry and Oversight
Committee.
The suggestion of learning
more about peace
possibilities in the Middle
East sparked great interest,
and there was enthusiasm for
ongoing discussions of the
history of the Quaker peace
testimony and its
applications in the past as
well as in current issues.
As possible resources we
have the Kenneys, who are
experienced at presenting
Middle East issues; a
possible workshop by
Friends from Illinois Yearly
Meeting; a possible ongoing
discussion group organized
by Rich Kaufman and
willing volunteers.
These possibilities will be
referred to the Quaker
Education committee to plan
in conjunction with Program
Committee, Ministry and
Oversight Committee and the
Peace and Social Concerns
coordinator.
Friends approved the
Ministry and Oversight
report, and rejoiced in the
Kenneys’ celebration of their
50th anniversary.
Treasurer’s Report –
Minute:
Friends heard and approved
the treasurer’s report, with
appreciation.
Clearness Committee for
Membership of Terry
Matz – Minute:
We heard with joy the report
of the clearness committee
for Terry Matz’s
membership, strongly
recommending that we
accept her commitment to
the meeting.
We approved the report with
great delight.
Library Committee
Report – an oral summary
Marc’s message.
He urged Friends to be more
diligent in signing out and
their library books and
recommended that new
books, especially the popular
titles on Quakerism, be
bought for the library.
Minute:
Friends heard the library
committee report and
encourage Marc to add
current titles to the library
collection.
Peace and Social Concerns
Coordinator Report – Minute:
We heard the report on Peace and Social
Concerns. Friends asked many good
questions about possible involvement in
MORE Squared. The clerk will try to
have more information available by the
next business meeting. Friends are
invited to think about attending the
September 9 organizational meeting.
The meeting ended with a few moments
of silence.
— Respectfully submitted,
Karin McAdams, Clerk
