Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business

Month, Third Day
Vera Elleson, Clerk and Ginger Kenney, Recording Clerk. . .15 members and attenders were present.
Ministry & Oversight report, Sheila Shinn. . .a clearness
committee for membership has been set up. . .concerns
discussed included childcare during program time, keys and
the opening of the meetinghouse, and the handling of con-
cerns brought to committees by members/attenders. We are
planning a farewell for Genia Simmons. Treasurer's Report,
Rick Yarnell. . .With contributions of $1,350 in August, the
checking account balance is $1,084. With the contribution of
$400 towards the building fund, there is only $200 left to meet
the budgeted amount of $2000. The operational fund has paid
$9,483.74 in bills which is 77% of the budgeted amount.
House Upkeep Report, John Griffith. . .the meeting gave the
go ahead to the committee to repair the iron railing in front and
to replace the kitchen stove with either another gas or an
electric one. We also heard an update on the neighborhood
code violations. Peace & Social Concerns report, Cathy
Gardner. . .The meeting expressed appreciation for the
dedicated work of this committee and the fine report of
activities presented. The back-to-school project was a
success. Donations are needed for Westport Cooperative
Services (of which we are a part) since the needs of the
neighborhood have strained the budget.
Other business...The date of the next Meeting for Worship
with Attention to Business was moved to October 8. Jim
Kenney has become a member of the Scattergood School
Committee; Donnie Morehouse has resigned. A concern
was passed to the Ministry and Oversight Committee for
further consideration.
