Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business
ninth month, first day, 2002

Jim Kenney, clerk, Karin McAdams, recording clerk, 17 members and attenders present

Treasurer, Ginger: Income, year-to-to-date, $8,161. Expenses, ytd, $10,015. Three of our yearly obligations are yet to be paid. Money available in the operating fund: $658; money available in the VOPS fund: $678.

Peace & Social Concerns, David: Currently residing in the Rommel garage/ basement, the Peace Pole continues to gain inscriptions. The committee will be working on a minute concerning Iraq and the government's language on same and would welcome your help and thoughts. The next meeting is September 8 at 9am.

Ministry & Oversight, Minta: Penn Valley Meeting will be included in a list of GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual,transexual) friendly churches that will be distributed to the GLBT community. This action is a part of "Coming in Sunday" celebrated on October 13. The possibility of a related program has been referred to our program committee. The meetinghouse may be open for quiet reflection on September 11; the hours depend on the number who are willing to monitor.

Quaker Education Committee, Kevin: the next offering will be on four testimonies led by Penn Valley members. In other news, Nancy Blair Moon will be leading training sessions on using the "talking-stick" to facilitate dialog. Spots are limited so if you are interested, contact Kevin.

Other decisions: The meeting approved with delight the nomination of Marc Robinson as its representative to the Iowa Yearly Meeting Disciplines Committee.
