Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business
Tenth
Month, Eighth Day
Vera Elleson, Clerk and Ginger Kenney, Recording Clerk. . .21 members and attenders were present.
From
the treasurer: Heard a letter from the KC Interfaith Peace
Alliance, thanking PVM for its membership donation and its
fine representative, Brenda Funk. Budget: we have spent
$9,980.77 of the $12,286 budgeted but have only taken in $8,
095. The Meeting also discussed and approved plans for its
invested funds. From the Ministry & Oversight Committee:
The nominating committee has been sent into motion. As it
considered the request of Pat Miller in regard to the format of
Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business, the commit-
tee realized that in order to carry the spirit of Meeting for
Worship into business meetings, there may be a need for the
meeting to discuss the issue again, perhaps in a special query.
Penn Valley Meeting welcomed with enthusiasm Cathy
Gardner into membership after hearing her inspirational
letter and the report of the clearness committee. First Day
School needs a table and chairs for use upstairs for younger
children. Program Committee invites all to the after meet-
ing farewell for Genia Simmons, who is moving to Texas, on
October 29. You could bring a KC item, something for jewelry
making, and/or a nice card as a token of remembrance. The
House & Upkeep Committee is shopping for a new electric
stove which should be installed soon in the kitchen. Peace
& Social Concerns Committee: In another well written and
detailed report, its Clerk presented a certificate for PVM's
membership in Move-up, expressed concern about atten-
dance at meetings and the committee relationship to the
meeting as a whole. Other: PVM approved $50 to be taken
from the VOPS fund per a request from the Western Missouri
Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. The request for
contact with a prisoner in the US Penitentiary in Leavenworth
will be turned over to the Peace & Social Concerns Committee.
