MEETING FOR WORSHIP WITH ATTENTION TO BUSINESS, eleventh month, seventh day
Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business, held on the twelfth month fifth day with Kevin Chafin, clerk, and Karin McAdams, acting recording clerk, had 10 members and attenders present.Committee Reports:
Finance: No report.
Ministry and Oversight (Karin): The committee discussed ways to reach out to Joel Hembree
made plans for a Meeting-wide retreat in January; discussed the IYM responsibilities for
August; and identified a need for a clear statement on Conscientious Objector status.
December committee meeting will be 12/13 at 7:00 at Ginger's house.
Education (Nancy): The committee will not
meet in December but will present a program on
attitudes of Quakers on celebrating holidays.
Nominating (Marc): The committee has completed its work and issued a report which meeting has approved. The list will be included in the
January Friendly Connection.
Peace and Social Concerns Committee: Writing to elected officials will continue for any number of topics to be chosen by the committee. The committee
will host a book and media drive to donate to
local jails through the Heartland Book Bank.
Feel free to donate books, magazines, or pamphlets that you think might be of interest to those
in jail, primarily men. We have been told that
there is a particularly strong interest in westerns, thrillers, muscle and car magazines and
like that. Exact dates for the collection will be
announced at meeting.
