LIBRARY REPORT: FOR THE YEAR, 2001
The library had an unusually eventful year. It is a work
in progress.
Cataloging of the existing books is complete, and the
books are replaced on the shelves. Most of the existing
books have been sorted. A number of old books were discarded, and some more will be.
In addition, the library received the religious library of a
member, Donnie Morehouse. Most of these books have
been catalogued as well. The library has taken over space
in the hall closet and hall bookshelf to house the overflow while members decide what to do; there is insufficient space to house all the new books. We may buy or
make another large bookshelf.
The library now has a rubber-stamp kit, and some of the
books have been stamped with the name, address and
phone of our Meeting. This kit can be used for non-library purposes as well.
The library bought a copy of The Daybook of Saints, by
our member Terry Matz. This is a beautiful book, and
members bought a number of these individually.
In addition, former member Barb Luetke-Stahlman self-published a book on remarkable Quaker youth of the
17th century.
The library has new check-out forms. We encourage people
to use these. So far, this seems successful. Friends also seem
to be doing a good job of returning borrowed books. Non-members are also borrowing books now.
